Term 1: What to Expect
Term 2 Details
Term 2 starts on April 28 and runs for 14 weeks, ending on August 1. The second-term holiday allows students a brief rest before the final term begins.
Short Third Term in 2025
Term 3 kicks off on August 25 and lasts nine weeks, ending on October 24. This shorter term prioritizes exam preparation for final-year students.
Key Exam Dates to Mark
Students taking the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will sit their exams from October 27 to October 30. The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will run from October 27 to October 31, providing ample time to complete assessments.

Parents and Teachers React
Parents praised the calendar’s clarity, with one stating, “This helps us plan better for school and exams.” However, concerns emerged over the short August break. “August’s holiday might not allow sufficient rest for learners,” one parent noted.
Teachers highlighted the pressure to balance teaching with exam preparation. A secondary school teacher commented, “We need more time to finish the syllabus, especially for exam candidates.”
A Balanced Approach
The Ministry of Education aims to ensure students learn effectively while allowing breaks for rest. This detailed calendar helps families and educators plan as the festive season unfolds.
